GITL Represents Liberia in Morocco at the African Forum for Women’s Empowerment

Girls In Technology Liberia (GITL) is honored to announce that its Founder & Executive Director, B. Massa Weeks, and Admin/Finance Officer, Ms. Mamu Bility, traveled to Rabat, Morocco, to participate in two major continental events:

• The African Forum for Women’s Empowerment, and

• The Constitutive General Assembly of the African Network for Women’s Empowerment

The events were hosted by the National Union of Women of Morocco (NUWM) under the High Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem.

Representing Liberia on a Continental Stage

GITL was invited to represent Liberia in discussions centered on women’s leadership, digital empowerment, entrepreneurship, and socio-economic inclusion. This invitation reflects the growing recognition of GITL’s impact in transforming the lives of women and girls through technology.

At the forum, participants from across Africa gathered to share strategies, challenges, and innovations driving women’s advancement in their respective countries.

Day One: African Forum for Women’s Empowerment

On the first day, Girls In Technology Liberia proudly joined inspiring women leaders, policymakers, and innovators from across the continent.

The program included:

• Official Opening Ceremony under the High Patronage of H.R.H. Princess Lalla Meryem

• Keynote Address: “The Empowerment of African Women”

• Panel Discussions on education, entrepreneurship, digital innovation, and leadership pathways for women

Representing Liberia, GITL Founder & Executive Director, B. Massa Weeks, served as a speaker on Panel 1: Education, Skills, and Empowerment through Knowledge. She shared GITL’s work in advancing digital literacy for women and girls, Liberia’s challenges and opportunities, and best practices for inclusive technology education.

Day Two: Constitutive General Assembly of the African Network for Women’s Empowerment

The second day focused on formalizing the African Network for the Socio-Economic Empowerment of Women, bringing together organizations committed to advancing women’s rights across the continent.

Key activities included:

• Adoption of the Network’s Statutes and Action Plan

• Election of the Network’s governance bodies

• Presentation of country-level commitments

• Strengthening partnerships and long-term collaboration among African nations

GITL Founder & Executive Director, B. Massa Weeks, participated in the deliberations and contributed to shaping and signing the 2026 Statute, which outlines the vision and strategy for women’s socio-economic inclusion across Africa.
